What Is Bha? And Why Do We Need New Shoe Sizing System?

Talking about stepping in someone else’s shoes, seems like we Indians have been doing it for a long time. We have complied with European and American standards while buying shoes.

“What is the problem?”, one might ask.

We Indians have been fitting our naturally wide feet into narrow UK/ US sizes. And this has resulted in foot pain and discomfort for many of us.

And now we have our very own sizing system: 'Bha'. Which is all about making shoes that fit Indian feet properly.

We are sure that many of you have heard about it by now, but what exactly is Bha?

Let’s explore:

After extensive research on Indian shoe sizes, our scientists have developed Bha, India's own shoe sizing system. Named after India itself, this new sizing system is way simpler than what we're used to. Instead of a large number of sizes, it has just eight categories, covering everyone from babies to adults.

Bha is all about comfort and fit. By focusing on only eight categories, it will make sure that most Indians can find shoes that feel great on their feet. It is going to make things easier for shoe manufacturers. With fewer sizes to worry about, it can help save money and produce shoes more efficiently.

Bha Size Chart

  • I— Infants (0 to 1 year)
  • II— Babies (1 to 3 years)
  • III— Small children (4 to 6 years)
  • IV— Children (7 to 11 years)
  • V— Girls (12 to 13 years)
  • VI— Boys (12 to 14 years)
  • VII— Women (14 years and above), and
  • VIII— Men (15 years and above)

Bha is starting with sizes for kids and adults. It is expected that about 85% of Indians will be able to find shoes that fit them perfectly.

Bha will not only simplify shoe sizes for Indians but will result in better-fitting footwear and an industry boost.
